News from the FOS

• Som’s house in Thankot has a new construction.The house has more rooms for all the children and guests, like Therese and her goddaughter Martina. Therese is now living for about 3 months in the house.
• Since January 2011 another boy from Singla lives in the house with the other children. His name is Sukman (Gancha) and is 4 1/2 years old. He visits the school like the other children
• A girl from Khorla, Kalpana (Maili) lives since April 2011 in the house in Thankot. She is visiting the 8thclass. In the morning and evening she helps Maya in the house.
• With 8 children from Thankot, Som organised a trek to Singla with tents and open kitchen. Together with the children came Martina and a friend from Paris. Rene Pierre give a generous donation to our organisation FOS.

Khorla, a small village near Singla is very poor. Until today they haven’t got any donations from sponsors. This year Therese passed by with the children and brought pencils and colours from Switzerland. She donated also some money for the school. In a small ceremony we give the gifts to the teacher of the school of Khorla.

• Therese organized the new house with Maya. They bought together beds, tables, sheets and more. In this moment the money from Switzerland was a big help for this extra expenses this year.
• For the older boys we bought a computer to train them for the school.
• Maya received new sewing machine.

Third visit of Therese in Nepal. She organised to bring 160 kg clothes from Switzerland to Nepal. After only 8 days the 16 packages arrived in Kathmandu. With the help of friends they prepared the clothes for the transport to Singla. Som Bahadur and 9 porters brought all the clothes to Singla. All the people from Singla, kids, old people, families, all received one small gift.

The British welfare organisation built a new schoolhouse and toilets for each house in Singla.

Sponsored from Switzerland 2 girls from Singla, Pasanti und Ash Maya, 4 und 6 years old, are new living in the house in Thankot. Now there are 5 boys and 3 girls living with 3 adults in Thankot and visiting the same private school there.

With the first money from Switzerland, a fifth boy, Suke Bahadur and his mother can live in the house in Thankot. He is really happy to go to school.

“Friends of Singla” (FOS) is a non-profit organization formed in 2008 from Som Bahadur Gurung, Therese Baenziger and Kesang Dolma Sherpa. The simple intention is to motivate people to help Singla, a small village in the Manaslu Area of Nepal.

With 200Euros we bought materials for the school in Singla.

Therese Baenziger visits Nepal the 2ndtime and brought 25 kg clothes to bring them to the village Singla.
