Project Singla since 2008
A) 150 apple trees for Singla!
Som and one of 150 apple trees 2010
Near the village of Singla, Som planted with his friends in 2008, 150 apple trees. 3 men from the village are working on the land. A further project is to plant medicinal plants and herbs between the trees. All in all, the project is personally surveyed by Som.
B) Library for Singla
In 2009 Som established a bilingual library in Singla with the help of a group from Charity and Challenges, Kt.
C) Kitchen situation
The only room in a typical house in Singla is at the same time the Kitchen, living- and bedroom. The cooking is done with fire in a hole on the floor, in the middle of the room and without a smoke escape. This way of cooking causes a lot of problems, for example chronic cold and headaches, digestive problems, arthritis in the knees and other oral infections (mouth, fingers, legs etc.) are all very common as well in additions with not to mention the burnings. In 2010 Som designed a simple stove and tested it in house. The idea is to incorporate such stoves in the rest of the village; it is long-term and open project
D) Other project ideas are:
- Supporting students from Singla who would like to continue their studies.
- School cafeteria: giving all children who attend school one hot meal and maybe fruits.
- Support for elder and sick people, maybe offer a day-care centre.
- A sewing project for local women.
